Reminder

Please be courteous to our neighbours when parking outside school.  It is not acceptable to block peoples driveways, double park and cause obstructions.  We have also received reports of people parking on the zig-zag yellow lines.  These are there to safeguard everyone and avoid accidents and must not be obstructed at any time.

Thank you to everyone who has returned the updated contact information and signed policies to the office.
We have noticed that there have been some changes to phone numbers and addresses which we had not been notified about.  It is important that these details are kept up to date should we need to contact you regarding your children.  If you haven’t returned this paperwork, please can you do so as soon as possible.

Curriculum

October is Black History Month.
This is a time set aside each year to celebrate the achievements of Black people in the past and today. Throughout the month, we will be recognising black people throughout history, their achievements and what they have done for the black community. Each class has a different historical figure to focus on. The children will also be learning about why Black History month is important and why we take part each year.

Rights Respecting Schools

Article of the Month: Article 30 – Every child has the right to learn and use the language, customs and religion of their family, whether or not these are shared by the majority of the people in the country where they live.

ECO

The Eco Bees have been busy making signs and putting them up around school to remind us about switching off lights and plugs and electrical devices. We are trying to get in those good habits to help reduce climate change and look after our planet. Please can you reinforce this at home as well.
They are also trying to reduce food waste in school. So many children waste the food on their plates by asking for things they don’t like or filling their plates up on the salad bar and then not eating it. Again please can you talk to them about this at home as well. Thank you.

Safeguarding and Family Support

Home or Out Alone
This guide provides practical tips and advice to help parents and carers decide what is best for their child when it comes to staying home alone or going out alone.

It covers some of the risks parents should consider before making a decision, such as how their child feels about the idea and who they should contact in an emergency.
There is also a checklist for parents and children to work through together to help them prepare for different types of scenarios. This includes questions about what to do if there is an accident at home or they are approached by a stranger outside.
